Family Based Mental Health Services
Family Based Mental Health Services (FBMHS) is a research-based family therapy program designed to help stabilize families who have a child or adolescent with serious mental health needs. The goals are to help families build skills to better manage the child’s mental health issues, enhance the family’s ability to meet the child’s unique needs, and support the family toward being more successful. This is a team (two therapists) delivered service.
TEAMCare provides this comprehensive, 32- week family service in the home, school, and community. We incorporate intensive therapy, case management services, family support services, and 24 hour, 7-day availability for crisis stabilization. Emphasis is on the clinical delivery of ecosystemic structural family therapy (ESFT). ESFT works by clinicians guiding the relationships in the family, and their ecosystem, to create meaningful change for the child and their caregivers. As such, ESFT is an impactful treatment approach for disrupting inter-generational and complex developmental trauma. It is about improving executive functioning for caregivers and improving attachment. Incremental shifts result in new, rewarding experiences for both the caregivers, and the child/adolescent.
