Is There a Treatment Option Specifically for Suicidal Thoughts or Self Harm?

CAMS TrainedThe Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) is an evidence-based approach to treating people suffering from serious thoughts of self-harm. The provider and patient collaborate to identify and address the “drivers” — the root causes behind the patient’s suicidal thoughts. Our CAMS trained clinicians have the skills to effectively reduce someone’s suffering and treat suicidal risk. This Evidence-Based Treatment is built on 40 years of ongoing clinical research and is an empirically-validated treatment application of suicide-focused care. The effectiveness of CAMS has been recognized and supported by the CDC, Joint Commissions and Surgeon General, as well as 11 clinical trials, 7 published randomized control trials, and 2 meta-analyses. CAMS is referenced in the 2024 National Suicide Prevention Strategy and Federal Action Plan and Zero Suicide Toolkit. It has been integrated into many Zero Suicide initiatives worldwide. CAMS is a Patient-Centered Approach that guides therapists and patients to work as active collaborators, moving away from the traditional adversary model. Together they develop treatment and stabilization plans based on trust and mutual understanding–an approach that leads to positive patient feedback and better clinical outcomes. (Source: CAMS-Care)

Adult Services

If life’s challenges feel overwhelming or certain struggles are holding you back, you don’t have to face them alone. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore what you are going through and discover new ways forward. Treatment for a mental health issue can include medication management from a licensed prescriber and/or psychotherapy.

Child & Adolescent Services

There are a variety of services available for children and adolescents. We are proud to offer so many of these services including the following: Outpatient Therapy, School Based Outpatient Therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Other services available for children and adolescents include Psychiatric Services, Comprehensive Psychological Testing and Diagnostics, Intensive Behavioral Health Services IBHS), Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) for adolescents age 13+, and Family Based Services. Descriptions of these services can be found below and to the right.

School Based Outpatient Therapy

TEAMCare has partnered with school districts in several counties to provide therapeutic services in settings that are easily accessed by children, teens, and their families. Individual therapy is provided in a comfortable, safe, and convenient environment that has been approved by a State Inspector. Therapy targets building resiliency and support networks, promoting effective coping, and providing healthy alternatives to undesired behaviors.

Services may continue during breaks and over the summer in person, or if transportation is a barrier, via telehealth, while school is out of session. School Based Therapy allows your loved one to receive services they may not otherwise have the opportunity to receive, and therapy can help give them the confidence and tools they need to reach their full potential.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is designed specifically for children ages 2–10 with emotional and behavioral disorders and their caregivers. PCIT will teach parents and caregivers how to effectively parent their young child with direct coaching from a treatment-specific team.
